The Web Site Host
Placed in Web Hosting Guide | February 17th, 2009
The choice of Web hosting service for your Web site can be a little confusing. There are so many possibilities and many people are not quite sure what they should be looking for.
Here are some things you should consider if it is a host site:
Storage file / disk space
As much space you need? It depends on how many files (pages) you plan to download to your hosting space. If it is a personal or e-commerce site (a site that sells products) with only a few pages and graphics, 25 MB of space on the hard drive of one month should be more than enough. If it is a multi-page site as an online purchase-mail, then 2000 MB would be safer.
Is in kilobytes of disk space Ko, Mo or Mo Go Go, is a 1000 megabytes kilobytes and a gigabyte is 1,000 megabytes.
Bandwidth / Traffic / transfer
All words are used above. It is the amount of data through your site, the amount of results or how many people visit your site. If you wait a few hundreds of queries per day, then 10, 15 to 25 GB of transfer should be enough. If you are expecting hundreds of thousands of hits per month, you should accommodation, an account with so much bandwidth as possible.
The bandwidth is usually expressed in gigabytes.
CGI Common Gateway Interface, is a protocol used to script your website dynamic. Flash banners, objects in motion. Of good Web design, application or script knowledge and a host of CGI offers, you can simply put your site to life.
Frontpage Extensions
Now-a-days more sites offer FrontPage extensions. Microsoft FrontPage is a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) Web design tool that you simply create Web pages, while the software is not entirely consolidation in the wings. The great thing, the use of FrontPage and with a host with FrontPage extensions, if your Web page design anything you have to do is a button indicating that “the publication of the site” and all move your pages from your computer to your hosting space in a single click.
Shared Hosting / Dedicated Server
Shared hosting, or sometimes the basic accommodation means that the web, you rent is divided on the same Web server with other clients of the company you bought the Web. That is the plan.
When purchasing a dedicated server, it means that your site is about servers. This is the preferred choice for regions with many modes and many graphics would be too long to download onto a server shared.
Search for a Web hosting can get confusing if you’re not sure what you want. If you plan with an average of a Web site with hundreds of results or less per day, shared hosting is the way to go.
